1.What is an air purifier? How does it work?

An air purifier, also known as an air cleaner, is a device used to remove airborne contaminants. By using it, you can improve the cleanness of the air you breathe, thus protecting your health from respiratory diseases.

How do air purifiers work?

There are five main technologies widely used in air cleaning machines, namely, HEPA filter technology, activated carbon filter technology, ionizer (see ionic air purifier here) technology, ozone technology and ultraviolet light technology.

We also have a very long article about how air purifiers work.

2.Best HEPA air purifier – Why Choose HEPA air cleaners?

Reviews for IQAir HealthPro Plus
True HEPA Machine

HEPA air purifiers use HEPA filters. HEPA is short for high-efficiency particulate air, which is a standard established by the United States Department of Energy. To become certified, the filter needs to be able to remove over 99.97% of airborne contaminants as small as 0.3 microns. As a comparison, normal non-HEPA filter air purifiers only remove around 85% to 95% of airborne pollutants.

So, as we can see, HEPA filters have a much stronger ability to clean. As HEPA is a strictly high-class standard, the production costs of these purifiers are much higher than those of normal ones. As a result, the prices of HEPA purifiers are higher too.

  3. i was asked to find a manufacture of air purifier made in usa for exporting to China. any recomendation on the manufacturers or work with me to identify one without china dealer.

    1. Sorry, but we are just a review site and we do not have close link with the manufacturers. But as far as I know, most American brands are mainly have business in U.S. only. Good Luck to you~

    2. We have a fanless air purifier that is made in the USA (downtown Los Angeles California(. It had been tested at NRTL’s (nationally recognized testing laboratories) at 311 cubic feet per minutt of clean air delivery. That means the volume of air in a 500 sq ft room is purified 4.8 times per hour. The filters can be changed in seconds. Only 45 watts and DEAD SILENT at 0.2 decibels compared to up to 70 deccibels (leaf blower range) for the best performing HEPA filter. I can likely arrange a face to face comparison with a particle counter demonstraing our low energy, silent faneless air purifier, outperforming ANY Hepa or other technology machine. You can believe YOUR OWN EYES AND EARS. Email me and I will provide more info. Thx.

      1. Thanks for your message, Marc. We are mainly for the popular air purifiers sold in the market.Well, maybe we will contact with U, if we want to try your fanless air purifiers in the future.

  5. Air Purifier works best if it is placed within 10 feet of a cold air return. Some customers prefer to have more than one unit to better control levels of activated oxygen in the home.

    1. Thanks for your sharing Albert. Yes, you are right, In theory, more air purifiers in every room is better than one bigger air purifiers for multi-rooms.

  11. What is the best Air Purifier for some with Asthma?

Me and my wife both had asthma, our poor kids are doomed. So what would be the best one for dust and orders?

  12. Help–I’m looking for the best purifier for a basement workshop. I make resin jewelry, and floating dust and hair stick to the resin, marring the finish. I need a really good unit for large particles. Added bonus–a good filter for fumes produced by the various chemicals I use. I already wear a respirator when working, but I would love some backup to clean the air. It’s possible that something from the construction/abatement industry might be more appropriate for my needs than something aimed at reducing allergens.
