Sharp Air Purifier Review 2017
This post gives Sharp air purifier reviews, mainly Sharp Plasmacluster air purifier ratings, features and comparisons.
Sharp air purifiers are purifiers that fit almost any kind of customer. Their cleansing ability is excellent, eliminating all kinds of allergens from the molecular level to larger dust, hairs, odors and smells. They leave no room for any type of airborne irritants in your home.
What is Sharp Plasmacluster? – More About Sharp Plasmacluster Ion Technology
Sharp has achieved that kind of performance by applying a unique ion technology called Plasmacluster.
In 2000, Sharp produced its first air purifier with this technology. By creating a shower of positive and negative ions, Plasmacluster ion technology helps deactivate harmful air pollutants like pollen, dust, animal dander and bacteria: small particles at molecular levels.
Sharp Air Purifier Review 2017 – Choosing A Sharp Plasmacluster Air Purifier
In the chart below, you will find our Sharp Plasmacluster air purifier review for 2016 – 2017 market.
For larger particles and odors, Sharp also equips its purifiers with a true HEPA filter, which is able to remove (relatively) large particles of a size of 0.3 microns, and in most cases it also includes an active carbon filter for odor elimination.
To prove the efficiency of Sharp products, 28 experiments were conducted by various scientific organizations all over the world. Results showed that Sharp is, in fact, one of the best air purifiers available.
But we have to realize that nothing is perfect, and air purifiers made by Sharp are no exception. They have a few minor drawbacks, which can also be seen in many reviews.
First the noise level may be a little loud, especially at night when you are trying to sleep. And it’s not one of the most eye-catching models in the market. Its design is plain.
But these minor negatives cannot outweigh the incredible positives. Here I will introduce five Sharp air purifier filter models, which are of high quality and worth owning.
Top 5 Best Sharp Air Purifiers 2016 -2017
Sharp KC-860U Plasmacluster Air Purifier
Sharp KC-860U may not be the most popular model on the market, but it is definitely one of the strongest humidifier-purifiers available. It is unique for its “wet Plasmacluster” function. When you choose the “clean air and humidity” mode, KC860U is able to release water vapor into your room, a useful feature for people who always wake up with dry throat. Also, it boasts an excellent purification ability. Thanks to its three-stage filtration system, which covers almost all types of allergens, the CADR (Clean Air Delivery Rate) of this model is quite high. Suggested room size for this model is 347 square feet.
Sharp KC-850U Plasmacluster Air Purifier with Humidifying Function
With a lower CADR rate, Sharp KC-850U is designed for smaller rooms up to 254 square feet. It is a weaker version of KC-860U but is also a humidifier-purifier. And compared with the FPA series, it enjoys a longer filter life – while filters from the FPA series need to be changed every two years, both HEPA and carbon filters from the KC series are able to function for five years. That is due to the newly added pre-filter, which eliminates larger particles and hairs during the first step. The price of the KC-850U ranges from $320 – $340 at its lowest.
Sharp FPA60UW Plasmacluster Ion Air Purifier with True HEPA Filter
Aside from the unique Plasmacluster technology, FPA60UW features a true HEPA filter, which is good at reducing airborne particles like pollen, dust and pet dander. Despite the low price – it costs around $200, only about half of KC860U – its filter life is shorter than those of the KC-860U and 850U. It lasts only two years, and its active carbon filter should be changed after every six months of use, and is not washable. You will have to spend more on filter changes if you want to maintain maximum performance. However, room size coverage of this model is 341 square feet.
Sharp FPA80UW Plasmacluster Ion Air Purifier with True HEPA Filter
Sharp FPA80UW is a more advanced model of the 60UW. Compared with its predecessor, it has a higher CADR. In fact, it boasts the highest CADR rate among all Sharp air purifiers. As a result, suggested room size for this model is 454 square feet. FPA80UW provides four different fan speeds. Aside from the regular low, medium and high, it has an auto mode, in which it is able to adjust purification ability according to the level of pollution it detects. Other than that, this Plasmacluster air purifier shares the same features as the 60UW. The market price for this model is now around $300.
Sharp FPA40UW Plasmacluster Ion Air Purifier with True HEPA Filter
With a CADR of around 150, this model is only suitable for smaller rooms up to 200 square feet. But the purification performance of this model is still very good. Thanks to its micro-mesh pre-filter, the active carbon filter lasts longer than its predecessors, FPA60UW and FPA80UW: about two years. So you can change your carbon filter at the same time as the HEPA filter. So if you want to put your air purifier in a smaller bedroom, this model might be the most practical.
An air cleaner from Sharp will surely be suitable for you, no matter what size rooms you have. But if you want to check out other brands, see the Idylis air purifier info here or Oreck air purifier info here.
